The students of Frances Kelsey’s student government and Me to We club are teaming up for a March for Meals event in support of Nourish Cowichan.
The student government and club, both made up of students interested in local and global causes, will take to the school’s track for a five-kilometre walk on Dec. 1.
But first, they’ll fundraise.
“Students from around the school are going to be approaching their family, friends, and neighbours to educate them on issues pertaining to child poverty in the Cowichan Valley,” said student government prime minister Caelen Cook. “Combining the leadership of our parliament with the altruistic attitudes of the Me to We Club membership we hope to make real change in the Cowichan Valley.”
Cook said the volunteers who have collected pledges will be joined by whoever else wants to march about 10:30 a.m. on the big day.
