Good Used Cars is “Still, Lovin’ Island Living for over 31 Years and counting”, as their motto says.

The Bond family’s used car dealership on Fisher Road in Cobble Hill was started by Rick Bond, his wife Brenda, and family friend Mike Irving in 1991.

Starting with just a few cars and their sleeves rolled up, Rick and Brenda eventually introduced their sons Robin and Cameron Bond into the business in the mid 1990s.

Since then, Good Used Cars Inc. has grown to be a Valley landmark for used car shoppers and the company has sold thousands of used vehicles to happy customers.

While the majority of their “good used cars” are sold and enjoyed locally, over the years the Bond’s have shipped vehicles all over the United States, Canada and even as far as Europe.

In fact, in 2019 and 2020, Good Used Cars was voted “Best Place to Buy a Used Car” by the readers of the Cowichan Valley Citizen newspaper’s annual “Best of the Valley” competition.

The Bond family and Good Used Cars’ dedication to selling reconditioned, safe and good used vehicles has helped the business continue to grow for more than 30 years.

Proud sponsors of valley rugby, hockey, softball, wrestling, Cobble Hill Fair and many more charities, the Bonds have raised three generations since settling here in the Cowichan Valley in 1968.

In June of 2021, the tough decision to sell the property at 1310 Fisher Rd. was made to allow Rick and Brenda Bond to semi-retire and allowed Good Used Cars to focus on having a great selection of handpicked vehicles that are hard to find and special in their own way.

Good Used Cars has retained the long-owned property at 1300 Fisher Rd., which is right next door at the intersection of Fisher Road and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Robin, Cam and long-time manager Colby Perkins are optimistic about the future development of a new and improved facility to continue to sell and service their clients in the Cowichan Valley and beyond for decades to come.

In the meantime, Good Used Cars has leased back their original sales office and shop, which is on the same property at 1310 Fisher Road, only 150 feet away from their past office and boldly visible from the highway.

Just in case there is any confusion, Good Used Cars was not taken over by Pride Motorpsorts.

Mike Irving has retired after more than 30 years of hard work and we wish him a long and well deserved retirement.

Robin, Cam and Colby are still “Good People selling cars to Good People buying cars Everyday”, except Sundays.

They invite and welcome everyone to check out the Good Used Cars museum-like sales and finance office in person, or check out their website and Facebook page.

A good old fashioned phone call always has and will work too.

Not only do they sell used cars, trucks and SUVs, they are an on-the-spot buyer of them in the Valley as well.

“For those looking for a low pressure environment from honest hard working people, this is and will always be the ‘Best Place to Buy a Used Car’,” says the business.
