When they see Jake Owen onstage at Sunfest Friday, Aug. 1 at 9:30 p.m., country music fans will be looking at the guy whose song was Number One on the country charts last week.
Owen is scoring big time with his hit, Beachin', which is getting everyone in a sultry summer mood these days.
It's from his newest album Days of Gold that he's touring through 75 cities right now, including his stop in Cowichan, Owen's rise to fame has been phenomenal. He's all about "keepin' it country" but that doesn't mean it's straight redneck rockin'. There's plenty of musical sophistication, earning him the title of top new male country vocalist in 2009 and a Grammy nomination as well.
Owen has gone from performing in Florida bars to moving to touring with the likes of Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.
