Know before you go: Cowichan transit schedules changing for the holidays

The Cowichan Valley transit system will be operating on a modified schedule during the period surrounding Christmas and New Years.

Local transit routes will run according to their regular schedules on Dec. 24 but there will be no service on Dec. 25.

On Dec. 26, transit will run on the Saturday schedule with no service in Ladysmith, Youbou and Honeymoon Bay.

Schedules return to normal from Dec. 27 through Dec. 31 to close out the year.

Buses are running on Jan. 1, but according to a Sunday-level schedule with no service in Ladysmith, Youbou and Honeymoon Bay.

What does this mean for riders? It means check with www.bctransit.com/cowichan-valley before you go to make sure your bus is running.

As for the Duncan Commuter (route 66) and the Shawnigan Lake Commuter (route 99) buses, regular service will be offered Dec. 24 but not on Dec. 25 or Dec. 26. Regular commuter service resumes Dec. 27, Dec. 28 and Dec. 31.

There’ll be no Jan. 1 service, however, but regular commuter schedules resume again on Jan. 2.

Route 44 — the Saturday Victoria-to-Duncan route will run on Dec. 29.

handyDART riders take note that service, albeit at potentially reduced hours, will be offered on Dec. 24, Dec. 27-29, Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.

There will be no handyDART service on Dec. 25-26, Dec. 30, or Jan. 1.
