Koury announces run for Conservative nomination

John Koury is hoping to carry the Conservative banner in the Cowichan/Malahat/Langford riding in this year's federal election.

The former North Cowichan councillor announced Jan. 14 to fellow Conservatives in the riding that he was stepping down as their constituency association president to seek the nomination.

"This opportunity to serve as the Member of Parliament is here now and I'm in the best position to fill it," Koury said.

Koury ran in Langford in the 2004 federal election and said Conservative voters have been calling.

"I feel I have the edge given my roots in all parts of the new riding and successful track record of popular policies I promoted as a elected official and as a long standing conservative," he said.
