Library wants to know what Chemainus thinks

The Vancouver Island Regional Library will be holding a community consultation meeting on Jan. 9

The Vancouver Island Regional Library will be holding a community consultation meeting on Jan. 9 to hear from the public about its plans for a new library in Chemainus.

Spokeswoman Natasha Bartlett said the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at St. Michael's Church at 2858 Mill St., is an opportunity for the VIRL to gather feedback as to what the public would like to see in their new library.

"We also plan on having the new library's architect at the meeting to answer questions and some preliminary design plans for the public to take a look at," she said.

"We always hold public consultations in communities where we plan to build a new library or renovate old ones."

Bartlett said construction of the new library, which will be approximately 5,000 sq. ft., is scheduled for later this year.
