West Shore RCMP are investigating an armed robbery, believed to be drug related, that left a 40 year-old Duncan man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The investigation began when a man admitted himself to Victoria General Hospital with a gunshot wound just after 4 p.m. on March 28.
Initial details indicate the victim met with another man and woman in a gravel parking lot in the 2800 block of the Trans Canada Hwy, in Langford.
The man subsequently pulled a handgun and attempted to rob the victim.
A brief struggle ensued with the firearm being discharged in the victim’s leg.
The victim is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
“We believe this to be a case of a drug deal gone wrong,” said RCMP Const. Alex Bérubé, a spokesperson of the West Shore RCMP.
“We do not believe that the public is at risk at this time.”

The suspect is described as in his late 30s, 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds.
He was wearing a dark baseball cap, blue jeans and a hoodie.
