A lone motorcyclist ended up in a water-filled ditch on Somenos Road on April 28 and was treated for injuries.

At approximately 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, officers from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment received a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and its driver who was in a ditch in the 6600 Block of Somenos Road.

RCMP officers at the scene worked with personnel from BC Ambulance to assist the motorcycle driver.

It was determined that the driver was the only one involved in the accident.

Witnesses at the scene stated that the motorcycle had been travelling south on Somenos Road when the driver lost control and skidded into the ditch which caused the bike to flip over.

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries.

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are still investigating the cause of the accident and are requesting anyone who may have witnessed it, or has dashcam footage of the driver’s actions prior to the accident to contact the RCMP.
