See the best of Ladysmith this weekend

Ladysmith town council proclaimed June 14-15 Be A HomeTown Tourist Weekend.

This event offers an opportunity for residents and visitors to discover the Central Vancouver Island communities of Ladysmith, Cassidy, and Cedar.

This event brings together free events and attractions, activities, shops and dinning all offering specials during that weekend.

Some of the activities planned are harbour boat tours, historic downtown walks, farm tours, and two-for-one specials kayaking, golfing and use of the indoor swimming pool at Frank Jameson Community Center, and special menus prepared at local restaurants.

Cindy Damphousse, who spearheaded the campaign four years ago said she is excited by the response.

“We often miss the treasures that are right in our backyard. This is a way for us to remember what an amazing place we live in,” she said.

Damphousse said that the campaign was modeled after other programs that have been successful in many communities.

“Amazing things happen in small places,” she said.

Damphousse as the coordinator of the TAKE 5 Ladysmith plus Cedar to Chemainus Vacation Guide says we can help promote tourism by being our own town’s ambassadors.
