The Shawnigan Lake Community Association has been busy planning to make December 2020 a special one to remember as the community navigates through the pandemic.

The SLCA will hold a Christmas Light Tour in which residents are invited to list their house for the tour by Dec. 15, or download the map and drive the tour with their family by visiting the SLCA website.

The SLCA is also decorating the Village.

The SLCA designed, built and erected a large, lighted wooden Christmas tree beside the Shawnigan Lake Garage, placed signs of encouragement along the roads, and will be mounting a display of coloured ornaments made by the children of Shawnigan Lake.

Residents are invited to download a picture of their own ornament to colour and submit it by Dec. 15 on the SLCA website, or drop it off at the Shawnigan Coffee House.

The association is also hosting cookie decorating and colouring virtual contests whose winners will be awarded with prizes.

People are encouraged to decorate their own cookies at home, or have their whole family decorate a batch of cookies all together, or they can colour one of the Christmas picture templates.

Pictures of the cookies or the colouring works of art can be submitted by Dec. 31 to win prizes.

For more details, to download contest rules or to receive colouring templates and the Christmas Light Tour Map, go to shawniganlakecommunityassociation.ca.
