Maple Bay - I disagree with the opinion from the writer in Chemainus that North Cowichan was wasting money clearing the snow from the storm. While it was raining when the plow went by his place, it was still snowing where I live. In fact the forecast rain never came. Obviously it is impossible to judge from a particular spot what is happening across the township. To find out, the plows need to go out and see the local conditions.
An alternative would be to have the plow drivers stand by in the yard, still being paid, until individual residents complained that their road was blocked. It would result in chaos but not a lot of money would be saved! I think that they did a fabulous job of keeping the roads clear.Garth McGearyMaple Bay
