Spilsbury vice-president of VISTA

At the recent BC Trustees Association Academy in Vancouver, Cowichan Valley district board chair Candace Spilsbury was elected vice-president of the Vancouver Island School Trustees Association.

"I am very pleased to become a member of the VISTA executive," she said. "It is another way I can provide leadership for quality education and advocacy for our students in School District 79."

VISTA represents 12 boards of education across Vancouver Island, who work together for better education in Island schools by sharing news of successful programs and services, as well as advocating for funding improvements and stability from the provincial government.

Spilsbury is no stranger to VISTA, having in the past organized meetings, worked on the group's Island Public Education conference and met with the Minister of Education representing the group.
