NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING - OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN BYLAW NO. 3226, 2024

City of Duncan Council will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 Craig Street, Duncan, BC, to allow the public to provide input to the Council on “Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 3226, 2024”, which proposes to repeal the current “Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2030, 2007” and replace it with a new Official Community Plan (OCP).

What is the purpose of Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 3226, 2024?

The proposed bylaw is to adopt a new OCP covering all land and properties within the municipal boundaries of the City of Duncan. The OCP is a statement of objectives and policies to guide decisions on planning and land use management. The OCP:

• includes policies concerning indigenous relations and reconciliation, growth management and sustainable development, housing, the economy, transportation, biodiversity, climate change, arts and culture, heritage, parks and recreation, community services and safety, and infrastructure and servicing;

• designates future residential, commercial, community, and parks and open space lands and areas of the City in which temporary use permits may be considered; and

• establishes a development approval information area and designates three development permit areas to address design standards, the natural environment, and natural hazards.

How do I get more information?

The proposed bylaw will be available for public review from Wednesday, February 21, 2024, to Monday, March 4, 2024, at City Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), and on the City’s website, www.duncan.ca. Attend the Public Hearing at 4:00 pm on Monday, March 4, 2024 at City Hall, 200 Craig Street, Duncan, BC for the opportunity to speak. Written comment can be provided in advance, addressed to the Director of Corporate Services, City of Duncan, 200 Craig Street, Duncan BC V9L 1W3 or emailed to paige@duncan.ca before 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2024. All comments received after 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, and before 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, will be submitted for public record during the meeting.
