In Loving Memory ~
Sowden (Janz) Alice Katherine very gently lifted to heaven by her Lord Jesus the evening of Feb. 29. Alice was the middle of 5 born to Susie & Adolph Janz. She grew up in Alberta and Germany where her parents were missionaries. Her very quiet manner for many years hid a vibrant and adventuresome personality.
Alice had a great love of Family, Faith in God, strong desire to learn and especially to grow spiritually. Alice overcame open heart surgery at 21, several car accidents, opiate addiction, back & neck damage daily facing chronic pain with the heart of a warrior!
She has joined many Family & Friends in heaven along with her parents, in-laws Craig, Gwen, Sefton, son Andrew James whose early death weighed on her heart many years and now they worship the Lord together. Alice was a gifted graphic artist, bookkeeper, Inspirational Speaker, Church Planting partner and amazing Mother & Grandma.
She deeply loved and appreciated daughter Sondra (Jay), Grandsons: Lucas, Corbyn and Zackery, husband Norman, siblings Robert (DeEtta), Elaine (Eugene), Judy (Charlie) and Gordon (Judy), sister-law Dorothy, brother in Carl (Carol) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alice's crazy sense of humor, perseverance, storytelling, waving worship flags, prayer support, unconditional love and adoration of Family will be extremely missed.
In the last 4 months her life was enriched by love from the Azhar and Amir Families as they arrived in Canada escaping religious persecution.
A Celebration of Alice's Life will be @ New Life Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Rd. 1:00 pm Saturday March 23rd. Instead of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Alice's memory shared with Mill Bay Baptist Fellowship Refugee Fund mbbf@shaw.ca or Island Kids Cancer Association https://ikca.ca/donate/
