It is with great sadness that we announce that Annamarie Kinskofer (Oma Anna) peacefully passed away at the age of 99. Predeceased by her husband Josef in 1994 and years ago her two brothers in Norway: Tormod and Erling respectively. She leaves behind her two children: Rolf (Denise) and Julia (Klaus); four grandchildren: Eric (Amber), Mark (Monika), Neal (Stacey), Corinna (Kyle); and three great grandchildren: Owen, Liam and Harlow.
Annamarie was born in Trondheim, Norway. She was raised between living in the city of Trondheim in the winter months and then on the big family farm in Hegra during the summer. It was an idyllic childhood. During the War she met and fell in love with her Josef (Sepp) and as a result moved to Germany. Those were tough years but the family stuck together and got through them. After the war they emigrated with their young son Rolf to Montreal to start a new life in 1951. It wasn't easy but they managed to build a good life. In the meantime, when Rolf was 16, they brought Julia into the world. After Dad retired they moved to the countryside outside of Montreal in the Eastern Townships to the house they both built together. They enjoyed a good decade of many good times with friends. After Josef passed away in 1994 due to a tragic accident, she decided to move to the Cowichan Valley in 1999 to be closer to her family. She bought the house in Arbutus Ridge that she loved so much and made many good new friends there.
She had a full life with lots of stories. Oma Anna was an avid gardener and knitted up more sweaters and socks in her lifetime that can ever be counted. She loved to ski and this was a big part of her life in Norway and then again when they lived in Montreal. Norway remained close to her heart.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cairnsmore for all the kind attention they gave to Mom over the years she was in their care. You are some of the kindest and caring people we have met.
There will be no service by her request.
