In Loving Memory ~
Born in Aarhus to farming parents in Virring, he was the youngest of 4 children.
In 1944 he met the love of his life, Ritta, married on Nov. 2nd, 1945. Their only child, Inge, was born in 1947.
In 1951, they were offered a job in Canada and left Denmark on a part container, part passenger vessel and arrived in Canada July 10th. Went to Alberta for a few months, where that job didn't pan out and then on to Victoria, B.C. where he worked for Island Farms Dairy for 4 years. Moved to Duncan in 1956 where he managed the Queen Margaret's School farm.
As they had only planned to be in Canada for 5 years, they returned to Denmark in 1959 to sell their farm there and return to Canada. When they returned they tried Alberta again for a few months but it was too cold for Ritta so they returned to B.C.
In 1960 they bought a dairy farm on Somenos Rd. in Duncan which had always been what they wanted.
In 1966, Asger became Bedstefar (granddad) to their only grandchild, Tami-Lyn. In 1980, they retired, moving to an acre sea view house in Cowichan Bay. Getting on and the gardening becoming a little much, they moved again to the Riverstone condo in Duncan in 2000.
Asger took ill on Jan. 16th, 2017 ( 1/2 hr. before is 95th birthday) where he spent 6 months in the hospital and then onto Sunridge LTC July 7th.
Asger was predeceased by his wife but left to mourn are his daughter, Inge Morris, granddaughter Tami Hill, great grandsons Dallas (Nicole), Cody (Sarah) and his two beautiful great, great granddaughters Blake Arya and Karma-Lynn. He also leaves nephews and their families in Alberta & Ontario, nieces, sister-in-law and families in Denmark.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Sunridge for their excellent care and treating him as the extraordinary man he was.
No service or celebration of life will be held at this time due to Covid.
