August 9, 1934 - January 9, 2019
Beryl Elizabeth Philp died with her husband John by her side on January 9, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. She was at home surrounded by family and friends in the days before her death who are all heart broken with their loss.

Beryl was born and raised in London, England on August 9, 1934 to Charles and Ivy Cusack. She is survived by a sister Kay (David) Davies and two brothers, John Cusack and Chris Cusack

all of whom live in England. She met her husband John while working as a secretary at London Hospital. They married on May 28, 1955 and had 4 children before emigrating to Canada. They eventually settled in Cherry Point in the Cowichan Valley in 1964 where their youngest son was born. Beryl came to love her new home in Cherry Point where she and John embraced the Canadian way of life.

Beryl enjoyed travel and had a keen interest and curiosity about other people and places. She had a great sense of adventure, a sense of fun and was enthusiastic about trying new things. She and John had an active life and loved to laugh with their many friends. The family has fond memories of camping, boating and ski trips which Beryl thoroughly enjoyed. Beryl was an avid gardener, loved her home and had a passion for creating beauty in her surroundings. She was a talented seamstress, knitter and craftswoman. She always had a project on the go and created many works of art.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, John and 4 of her children Noelle (John) Philp, Alison Philp, Simon (Luisa) Philp and Luke (Jennifer) Philp, eight grandchildren and a great grandson. Her son Martin Philp died tragically in 1980 at the age of 18.

At her request, her ashes will be spread at Cherry Point beach on a warm spring day. She declined a service of any kind so the family will host a tea in her honour for family and friends at 2777 Barry Road, Mill Bay on April 14, 2019. 2 pm-4 pm.

Donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Agency in lieu of flowers.
