March 8, 1959 - August 4, 2018
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She passed as she wished, peacefully at home, surrounded by family.

She was pre-deceased by (son) Jesse, (mother) Audrey, (brother) Pat and (father) Angus. She is survived by (sons) Sam and Tyson, (husband) Alan, (sister) Laura, (brothers) Bob and Dan, (nieces) Arin and Katie, (great nieces and nephews) Audrey, Emily, Jesse, Hayden and Jacob and (step-mother) Willy.

Colleen was born in Duncan and raised in Cobble Hill. She also, at various times, lived in Victoria (attending Vic High), Quesnel and Likely B.C., and Langford before moving to Shawnigan Lake in 1989 and marrying in 1990.While in Shawnigan, Colleen worked at the Jaeger House Restaurant, The Cobblestone Pub and, after returning to school, the Radiology clerical department at Cowichan Valley District Hospital.

She lived for her family and friends and with her heartwarming smile, infectious laugh, empathetic ear and zest for life, was a joy to be around. She lit up whatever room or location she was in.

After her first diagnosis with breast cancer in 2010, Colleen discovered photography. She had a natural eye for turning everyday sights into uniquely framed images of beauty. She especially loved her "macro" photography. It was "her thang" as she liked to say. She continued with this passion until early 2018, taking 1000's of photographs and was rarely seen without a camera on her person somewhere.

She will be sadly missed by many in the valley whether it be on her many excursions with son, Sam or her attendance on the sidelines of a Piggie rugby game where she covered her eyes whenever son Tyson was in a play and could never seem to understand a single rule of the game.

Special thanks to Dr. Seymour and Masuta, the "chemo girls" of Duncan Hospital, Rhea, pharmacist at IDA Valleyview and all Colleen's friends who provided amazing support through Colleen's fight.

There will be a Celebration of Colleen's life on August 25th 2018 at the Kerry Park Curling Lounge, 4-8 pm. It will be casual. Come and share a few memories and lift a glass in remembrance. Colleen would also ask in lieu of flowers please donate blood so others can continue in their fight.

Colleen loved deeply and was loved deeply. You will be missed. Godspeed "Weenie Wife".
