It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Daphne Georgette Dalsin. After a two and a half month struggle with kidney failure, she died peacefully in her sleep on 13 January 2019.

She is predeceased by her parents Patricia (nee Dickinson) and Joseph Luchinsky, her husband of 51 years, Clifford Dalsin, her son, Matthew Dalsin (Angelina Beaudin), her daughter-in-law Cecelia Waet Dalsin and son-in-law Ross Benson. She is survived by her sons Clinton (Laura), Joseph and Mark, and her daughters Veronica Sandahl (Steve) and Mary-Anne Benson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Grace-Anne Thunder, Donavin Benson, Lindsay Noel, Norman Sandahl, James Sandahl, Chloe Dalsin-Sandahl and Sephora Beaudin; and her great- grandchildren, James, Michael and Donavin's baby.

Mom graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Victoria in 1952 with the top marks in her class. She then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing across the street. She did her practicum at St. Joseph's Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse in 1955. Mom began her career at King's Daughter's Hospital in Duncan, and then at Halifax Children's Hospital.

She stopped working when she became pregnant with Clinton and stayed home to raise all six children until the youngest was in kindergarten. She then worked for Drake Medox Health Services, Mac Andrew Lodge, Juan De Fuca Hospitals, Victoria General Hospital, Oak Bay Lodge, Glengarry Hospital and Tillicum Lodge.

Mom and Dad met through the local branch of the Catholic Youth Organization. Dad was in the Royal Canadian Navy when Mom was a student in the School of Nursing. They married in 1956 and soon after, Dad was stationed to Halifax for a year. The rest of Dad's naval career was spent in Esquimalt.

Mom was actively involved in the community, volunteering for Mother's March of Dimes and in the Sacred Heart Church as a member of the choir and the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years. She was very spiritual and taught us to be so as well.

Mom stopped working when she was diagnosed with both Diabetes and Parkinson's Disease, which she lived with for 25 years. She last lived at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, located on the grounds of the former St. Joseph's School of Nursing which gave her the feeling of moving home. We wish to thank the staff and volunteers of Mount St. Mary's Hospital for their tender loving care, especially when mom was palliative.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4040 Nelthorpe St., Victoria, BC on 7 February 2019 at 11:00 AM. Cremation to follow. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallgardens.com.
