Elizabeth (Betty) Annandale Tattam (nee Henderson) - Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba

The beloved matriarch of our family passed away peacefully, at the Cowichan Valley District Hospital, Duncan BC, on November 27, 2017.

Betty was predeceased in 2008 by her husband of 64 years, Harold Edward Tattam. She was also predeceased by her two sisters Audrey Kayll and Mollie Davey.

She is survived by her children David Tattam (Janice), Margaret Phillips (Garry), her grandchildren; Nicole (Andy), Brian, Dan (Jen), Justin (Margaret), Nathan (Paula) and her great grandchildren; Avery, Jackson, Walker, Audrey, Henry, Farrah, Cooper, and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty spent her early years living in many locations on Vancouver Island. In 1944 while living in Victoria she met and married the love of her life Harold; a sailor in the Royal Canadian Navy.  In 1946 they moved to Winnipeg where they took over the Tattam family farm.  They moved from there back to Vancouver Island in 1958 and bought a farm in Duncan in the district of Glenora where she resided for the rest of her life.

Betty lived her life with grace and dignity. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining family and friends and helping on the farm.

In her retirement years she volunteered with the church providing pastoral care.  She also enjoyed ceramics, swimming and entertaining her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Home and Community Care  for  their at home support and  also special friend Susan Bousquet for  her care;  all of which  allowed  Mom to stay living in her own home.

We would also like to thank Dr. Mark Sanders and the staff at the Cowichan District Hospital for the care they provided for Mom.

A Celebration of Life  Service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, 486 Jubilee St., Duncan, BC, on Thursday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a  reception in the hall.

In lieu of flowers, in Betty's memory, donations could be made to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation #101-5822 Garden St. Duncan BC V9L 3V9 and or the Cowichan Valley Hospice 3122 Gibbons Road, Duncan, BC V9L1G2.
