In Loving Memory ~

Frances Isobel Montgomery, 95, of Duncan, BC, died peacefully in her home, on January 15, surrounded by loving family.

Frances was an incredibly bright light to her family and the community around her.

She spent her life caring for others. After her husband, Jimmy (James Henry Montgomery), died from cancer in 1979, she was determined to help others live fully and die comfortably.

She was active in hospice and supported the creation of Cowichan Hospice House. She helped dozens of people in their final days.

Frances had two children, Donald and Charles, and helped to raise her niece Kathy Murray (nee Lees) and nephew Mike Lees, first in West Vancouver, then on Mudpuddle Farm in the Cowichan Valley.

Frances loved her grandchildren, Ella, Fabienne, Jacob, and Wynn. She relished her visits with her many adoring nieces and nephews. She created friends wherever she went, and in her later years she cherished her book club, sharing drinks and advice with her Oakcrest neighbors, and charming people during weekly visits to the farmers' market.

A service will be held at St. Peter's Quamichan on Feb. 4 at 1pm, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cowichan Hospice Society.
