February 13, 1928 – June 25, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bruce Freeman on June 25, 2020, age 92.
Bruce was born February 13, 1928 to Bill and Ida Freeman, the younger brother of Art (Sonny). He was raised in Cobble Hill and lived there most of his life. He was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1999. He is mourned by his daughter Deborah, grandchildren Rhett and Brianne, and his partner and love of his life Irene, with whom he happily lived the
last few years in Cowichan Station.
Bruce began his working career with his dad, as a faller in the bush. Eventually he became a truck driver, which he did until he retired.
Bruce had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to tell a joke or share a funny story. And he was never shy about speaking to complete strangers, young or old, who were surprised to suddenly find themselves smiling and laughing with him.
Bruce was a kind and generous man and staunch supporter of various local organizations, such as the Cobble Hill Fair, the Cowichan Exhibition and The Hub in Cowichan Station. If you wish to honour his memory, please donate to the local charity of your choice.
