Survived by his much loved children: Christine (Pally), Heather (Gwil) and Brian Shea and their mother, Raffaella, and only brother Doug (Trina). Left to mourn his absence and the quiet, partner Allana Shillito, her mother Carol (Momsy) and daughter Kayla. Predeceased by both parents Lloyd George Shea (1997) and Florence Eileen Farmer (2006) and dear grandmother Hannah Worsley Farmer (1969). Greg was raised in Vancouver and attended Prince of Wales Secondary (1969). He became a geologist at UBC (1973) and joined the teaching profession. He spent all 33 years teaching in Prince George starting at Connaught and College Heights Secondary. His attention to details vexed many students but they learned how valuable he was once they reached post secondary. Greg was a doting father who instilled a love of nature, music and sports, passed on a great sense of humour and worked hard to provide the best life for his family. With unwavering love, he was always there to help and support his children in any way possible, and taught them to believe in the best of the human spirit through his actions of always helping those around him. Greg retired (2009) and moved to the Coast to live with Allana. He took no time at all fitting into many soccer teams including his adored "Oak Bay Old Boys" (OBOB). He was a member of 3 historical societies: Friends of the BC Archives, Cowichan Valley and Kaatza. He was a passionate, tireless advocate of the environment (Site C, Mt.Polley, Smart Meters), Indigenous causes and wildlife. Other groups that will feel his absence: Mining Justice Action Committee (MJAC), Victoria Lapidary and Mineral Society (VLMS) and Cowichan Valley Rockhounders. He will be most remembered for his boundless energy, optimism, passion, genuine friendliness and devotion to Allana. Greg was diagnosed with advanced cancer in June 2016. He was a good honest man taken too soon. Greg's ashes will join his mother's in Stanley Park. A heartfelt thanks goes out to his medical team: Dr. Iturra, Dr. Masuda, Victoria Cancer Clinic and Cowichan Hospice and Home Care. Online donations in Greg's name can be made to Greyhaven Bird Sanctuary and the Cowichan Valley Hospice. A Celebration of Life luncheon is on Sept 30, 2017 from 1-4pm, Main Hall of the Saanich Fair Grounds.
