Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 20th at Sunridge Place in Duncan. Helen was born on September 13th 1927 in Alford, Scotland. She was predeceased by brothers Ron and Gordon, her husband Albert, and daughter Wendy. Helen grew up on her family’s farm and was an accomplished pianist, it was there she met a charming milkman making his rounds, she and Albert were married soon after on April 26th 1952 and emigrated to the Cowichan Valley a month later. They settled into the “Cooks Cottage” at Fairbridge farm for $14 a month. Helen and Albert welcomed their daughter Wendy in May of 1956 and their son Kevin two years later. Helen worked part time in the Real Estate business at many of the valleys offices as her family grew and moved into sales fulltime later in the 70’s where she enjoyed plenty of success and made many friends. Helen and Albert enjoyed a long and colorful retirement, they traveled annually back to Scotland and took many trips and cruises to exotic locations. Between their travel adventures, Helen enjoyed her Sunday outings with her pals searching up and down the Island for special treasures to collect, and as her extended family grew, she loved to entertain her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her wonderful smile and laugh, a kind and generous manner, and the only one who knew how to make proper Scottish oatmeal stuffing! She is survived and will always be dearly missed by her son Kevin (Darlene) grandchildren, Randy (Rachel) Steven (Erin) Nathan (Heidi) Michelle (Randy) Rachel, and eleven great grandchildren. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Sunridge Place. A celebration of life will be held at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Center, 5285 Polkey Rd. in Duncan on February 25th at 2pm. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com
