“Mum” passed away peacefully at the Cowichan District Hospital on July 20, eleven days short of her 95th birthday. Born in London, England, “mum” joined the RAF during WWII where she met her husband Eric (also RAF). They with sons Tony and Geoff emmigrated to Edmonton, AB in 1952 and after 25 years in Pincher Creek, AB, 2 years in Iran and a brief return to England, they retired on Vancouver Island.

While in Pincher Creek, Irene served as a local correspondent for various media outlets in Southern Alberta.

Predeceased by her oldest son Tony and husband Eric, “mum” is survived by her son Geoff (Shai), granddaughters Tracey, Jody (Brett), Tanya (Clint), numerous grandchildren and relatives in Great Britain as well as Star (Conway).

A service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 13. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cairnsmore Place Extended Care in Duncan.

A proud, strong and courageous woman who had empathy for all, we will miss you very much “mum”.
