August 19, 2018
It is with extreme sadness to announce that Jim Collins passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at his home on August 19, 2018, in his 75th year.

Jim leaves behind his loving wife Pam of 51 years, son Jason, (his wife Kristie), grandsons Chase and Kaiden and Jim's two sisters, Gail (Tom), Maureen (Al), and several nephews and nieces.

Jim graduated from Victoria high school, and worked at a variety of places on Vancouver Island including: Bamberton Cement plant in Mill Bay, the District of North Cowichan as a licensed mechanic, MacMillan Bloedell, Shawnigan Lake School, School District 65 as a fourth class engineer and as custodian at Cobble Hill Elementary. Jim took a well-deserved retirement in 2009.

Jim will be remembered and missed by many for his kind heart, generosity and tireless dedication to helping others. He loved animals and they loved him, he created beautiful wooden lighthouses and bird whirligigs for people in the community and he had a passion for building majestic motorized, wooden, model ships. Jim's passing is a great loss for his family, his community and for many others.

Many thanks to the first responders and friends for your kindness and help during this most difficult time.
