It is with heavy hearts that we announce our dear dad's passing in the early hours of Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Dad grew up in Paisley, Scotland with his mum, dad and sister. In his school years he excelled in rugby and squash, the latter he played long into his adult life.
He met the love of his life, Joy, at a nurses dance in London England. They married in 1964 and moved to Australia soon after. While on a trip to Vancouver Island to see a friend, they decided to stay and make the Cowichan Valley their home.
Dad taught for many years in the Valley, first at George Bonner school and then Cowichan Senior Secondary, from which he retired.
Mum and dad spent many wonderful years together. They enjoyed numerous family trips to Maui, Europe( especially France). They often travelled to the United Kingdom to spend time with Family.
When Mom and Dad retired they settled into Arbutus Ridge. There they participated in all that it offered: golf, tennis, aerobics, bridge and forged many friendships.
When mum was stricken with Parkinsons and dementia, looking after her became dad's priority. He was unrelenting in his love even after her passing.
We, as his children, had a deep love for Dad and he reciprocated. Always being present to coach, drive and love us as we grew up. In his final moments we showered him with love. We will all miss him dearly.
Dad is survived by Fiona, Graeme (Joanne) grandsons Remo, Darien, Aiden, Aaron, Declan, Colby, and Ashton., extended family in the USA, the UK and Australia.
He also leaves to mourn many long time friends especially Marilyn Dewis who he grew close to in his final years.
There will a Memorial Service held Friday September 23, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 375 Brae Road, Duncan.
