Bud Hurrell

1931 - 2017

Lawrence Hurrell, known to his friends as "Bud", passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the age of 86 years.

Bud was born August 15, 1931 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the only son of Arthur and Lily Hurrell, and brother to Eileen Mary Hurrell.

He moved to England with his parents and returned to Canada when he was a young man, settling on Vancouver Island.

He worked as a butcher for The Locker Plant in Duncan and Swift Canadian in Victoria. He returned to the Duncan area for his retirement years and could be found every morning having breakfast with friends at the Doghouse.

You also may know Bud from the many years he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Duncan and then in Ladysmith.

He was a good friend to many, enjoying the time he spent with his friends. He was a kind, loyal, and intelligent man who shared life's stories, enjoyed meals with friends and was thankful to those that brought a little extra to the potluck so he would not have to worry about it.

He was a blessing to so many and will be dearly missed.

Bud is survived by cousins in the McKinlay Family of Duncan and Hurrell Family of Doncaster, England.

Bud requested no service, but a Memorial Tea will be held in his memory on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at 1pm in the Social Room of the Heatherton Building, 254 First Street, Duncan.
