Mary Eastman, beloved wife of 65 years to Robert, passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the age of 87 years. She will be lovingly remembered by children: Edward (Corinne), Robert (Karen), Charlotte (Rick), Richard (Gina), Joseph (Renee), as well as by her eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her parents, David and Mary Dick; brothers: Dave and John and sister, Helen. Mary was born in Netherhill, Saskatchewan then moved to Langley at age 5. She served as a nurses' aide in Williams Lake Hospital before family drew her to Quesnel. This is where she met her lifelong husband at a Cattleman's Dance. Life was good for the next eighteen years raising their five children.
In 1972 they moved to the Island, residing in Crofton for fourteen years and then in Cobble Hill for twenty eight years. A final move brought them back to Crofton in 2014 where they've lived happily ever since. Mary's family brought her the greatest joy and company could never overstay, as with her, it was "there's no rush here." Her children have been told countless times that there was never a sweeter woman and they agree. She was an extraordinary person; the best wife and mom anyone could ever dream of having.
