It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, oma.
Mary Van Es passed away peacefully, Monday, July 24, 2023, at Cowichan District Hospital.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Dick Van Es. Also left to mourn are her six children, John (Wilma), Martin (Jonna), Dick (Melanie), David (Luisa), Greg (Dulcie), Anita (David), fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sister Jany Boon of Langley, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born to parents Marinus and Ingetje Kok, on March 25, 1938, in the village of Hoogvliet in the Netherlands. Mary was the third of 4 children, Jany, George, Mary and Ingetje.
In 1951 her family immigrated to Canada and landed in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. After a few years, they settled in Calgary, Alberta, where she met the love of her life Dick Van Es. After a brief courtship, they married on April 13, 1962, and were blessed with over 61 years of marriage. Mary's career was her family and she dedicated herself to her husband and raising 6 children. She had strength, kindness and gentle nature. She had a wonderful sense of humour along with a beautiful smile.
She has now left the struggles of this earth and will forever be in our hearts and memories.
