MURRAY STECH

January 1, 2016

June 15, 1955 to September 20, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce Murray’s passing from cancer, age 61. He had recently retired from a 40 year long career with the Ministry of Forestry, Lands and Natural Resources in Victoria. Murray loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing, hiking, cycling, and keeping fit at the gym. He was an enthusiastic gardener, and enjoyed tending his fruits and vegetables. He was a quiet man but had many admirers both at work and in his personal life. Murray grew up in Woodfibre, a small company town near Squamish. The family moved to Delta in his teen years. Murray was married to Rosalie who was his best friend and partner for over 40 years. Together they explored the great outdoors and travelled for decades. He also leaves two brothers, Daryl (Colleen) and Brian (Dorothy) as well as nieces and nephews. Rosalie is deeply grateful to all the people who lovingly cared for Murray during his final days. We will remember him in his float tube, casting out on a calm sunny day, reeling in the big one. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday November 6, 2016 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Duncan Community Lodge, 2244 Moose Road, Duncan, B. C.
