Nasib Kaur Sunnar (nee Mandair) passed away peacefully in her home on June 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 97.
Nasib is survived by her brother: Ajit Singh Mandair, daughter: Dyal Kaur Sarkaria, son: Dyal Singh Sunnar, daughter-in-law: Mohinder Kaur Sunnar, grand-daughter: Amrit Kaur Sarkaria, grandson-in-law Sarbjit Singh Sarkaria, grand-daughter-in-law: Jaskiran Kaur Sunnar, great-grandchildren: Manisha, Jasmin, Vikram, Kiran, Harjan, and Jai.
She is predeceased by her husband: Amar Singh Sunnar, sisters: Channan Kaur, and Amar Kaur, son-in-law: Harcharan Singh Sarkaria, grandson: Pritam Peter Singh Sunnar.
Nasib was born on September 10, 1920 in Chak Ramu, Punjab, India to Waryam Singh and Rali Kaur Mandair. After moving to Duncan in 1969 she helped raise her grandchildren. Her family remember her as a creative, kind, hardworking and loving individual.
Nasib was accomplished at cooking, sewing, gardening, and entertaining the children, family and friends with her century old songs and stories. She was a very dedicated and wise individual who loved her family deeply. Nasib was loved immensely and will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Emergency staff at Cowichan District Hospital, Dr. Terlien, Dr. Weizel, Dr. Wilhelm, Judith at Cowichan Hospice, the team at VIHA: Home care Nursing, OT, and Home Support Staff, for their amazing kindness and compassionate care. Thank-you to all the community, relatives, and friends for their wonderful support these past few weeks for Nasib and the family.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018, at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial-5285 Polkey Rd, Duncan, BC, doors opening at 10 am, service starts at 11 am.
Religious ceremony and lunch to follow at Duncan Sikh Temple-3210 Sherman Rd, Duncan, BC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nasib's life.
