October 17, 1946 - January 22, 2021
Richard was born to Bill and Betty Brown in Port Alberni, BC and raised in the Cowichan Valley. The youngest of five, Richard enjoyed a full childhood. By all accounts, he lived an exciting youth, racing Jeeps, playing rugby, logging and moving houses.
May 10, 1980, he married Maggie Rainsford and soon relocated to raise their family on Mayne Island. After decades of farming, he and his Mags, moved to the Cariboo to follow their love of outdoor fun.
Dad will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and his great love of fishing and hunting. He was always ready with a beer at the kitchen table to joke and tell stories. He never forgot a face or name and could scarcely drive the Malahat without waving at 3 people he went to school with.
A friend to any dog to cross his path, he never left the house without stuffing cookies in his pockets for his many four legged buddies.
Unexpectedly, Richard passed away in his home on Knife Creek Rd. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Maggie; Children, Nancy (Mike), Colin (Lani), grandchildren; Annie, Aria and Faye, and his sisters along with their families: Denise, Sylvia, Anna and Donna.
We were lucky to have had him in our lives and he will not be forgotten.
