Rona passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on January 24, 2019, at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital in Saanichton, BC
Rona was predeceased by Philip, her loving husband of 55 years, her parents Charles and Mary MacDonald, one sister (Allie) and two brothers, Gordon and Rollo. She is survived by her beloved children: Daughter Wendy Chambers of Whitehorse, Yukon and three sons Graeme (Jo-Anne) of Ancaster, Ont., John (Josie) of Ladner, B.C., and James (Janet) of North Saanich, B.C.
Rona is also survived by her five much loved grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and four nephews.
Born in Victoria on March 1st, 1918, Rona had resided in Duncan since 1924 except for 10 years from the mid 40's to the mid 50's when she and her husband "Phil" were in business in Lake Cowichan.
Rona loved the Cowichan Valley. For her, there was always somewhere or something new to discover in and around Duncan. Family visits often meant adventures exploring the Valley.
Her love, curiosity and humour will be missed by all of her family.
Rona's family would like to thank the dedicated staff at AllCare Canada (Sidney, B.C.) for the kindness and respect and dignity shown to Rona. Also, sincerest thanks go out to the staff of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital for the exceptional care provided to Rona during her last few days.
Rona's wish was that anyone wishing to make a bequest in Rona's memory be made to the charity of their choice.
