It is with deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Russ, age 86. Russ was born on the family farm near Cutknife Saskatchewan; the 10th of 18 children born to Phidime and Mabel Goulet. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rosalind of 41 years; his children; Michelle, Peter (Gemma) and Todd; his step children: Jill Keeble, Jeff (Wendy) Keeble; grandchildren: Amanda, Jonathon, Jason (Meaghan), Jessica, Jacklyn, Sam, Megan, Lucas and Nicholas and great grandchildren Saeda and Jude. He will also be missed by 8 siblings: Bert and Bertie, Louis, Lucille, Cecille, Yvonne, Darlene and Derrill and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Russ was predeceased by his beloved pets: Angus and Cody.
Russ worked for 45 years as a heavy duty mechanic/welder. His last employment before retiring in 1997 was with Pacific Forest Products at Mesachie Lake. Russ was often seen riding his scooter on the trail and around Lake Cowichan with his dog Harley by his side and wearing his straw cowboy hat adorned with feathers; stopping to chat with everyone he met along the way. Russ loved a good party, especially one where he was surrounded by family and good friends and Country Music.
Not only did he love to listen to music but loved to jam with other musical friends. Russ loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, and hunting trips with his nephews Darren and Derrill. He will be remembered for his colorful sense of humour and willingness to always help family, neighbours and friends. Final words of advice from Russ "keep your stick on the ice". A Celebration of Russ' Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
