It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thelma Mattson. A loving mother, a beautiful sister, an understanding and compassionate aunt, and our family matriarch.
Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Gladys and Archibald McArthur; husband, Walter (Chub Mattson); her son Roger Mattson; brothers Arthur, Jack and Vernon; and one sister, Joyce.
Mrs Mattson (so lovingly referred to by her son, Ron) started her 93-year journey in Dundurn, SK. Her family moved to Waitville, SK in the ‘30s where she met and married Walter Mattson. They started their family and moved to BC where they resided in Haney, Honeymoon Bay, Lake Cowichan, Nanaimo and Lantzville. Thelma spent the last 15 years of her life in a beautiful home in Lake Cowichan that her son built for her.
Thelma is survived by her son, Ron; her sisters Colleen Boyd, Jessie Shillington and Kathy McArthur; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
