It is with sadness that the family of Thomas R. Heggie announce his passing on September 27th after a long journey with dementia. Tom is survived by his loving wife Muriel, sons Rod, Scott and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, sister Avril and brother who resided in Scotland.
Tom immigrated to Canada at the age of 17 and worked for the Hudson's Bay Company in La Ronge, SK, Dept. of Indian & Northern Affairs and Parks Canada as Supt. of Fundy, Cape Breton Highlands, Banff and Pacific Rim National Parks. Tom served as Assistant Regional Director in Winnipeg. He travelled across Canada and journeyed to Europe. Tom was well respected by all who knew and worked with him.
He hosted federal and foreign dignitaries from across the globe. Many, many thanks to all the staff at Cairnsmore Place (where he spent nearly 6 years) for their outstanding care. You are all angels. There will be no service - a toast of red wine will be suffice.
