William Edward "Ed" Hutchinson

September 25, 1937 - July 5, 2019
On Friday, July 5, 2019, Ed Hutchinson of Duncan, BC passed away peacefully at the age of 81 with his family at his side.
Ed was born in New Westminster, BC to George and Cecilia (Sis) (nee Dunbar), the eldest of three boys. At the age of 24 Ed moved to Tahsis, BC where he made many lifelong friends, and met the love of his life Karen. Ed and Karen married on April 6, 1964 in Nanaimo, BC and had four sons over the next ten years. Ed and Karen moved their family to Duncan in 1975 where Ed worked as a sawfiler in the forest industry until retiring from Crofton Pulp Mill at age 62.
Ed leaves his wife of 55 years, Karen, sons Miles (Mel) of Edmonton, Darren (Deb) of Osoyoos, Shawn (Lindsay) and Mike (Sherrie), both of Victoria, and his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Al, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, any many friends. Ed is predeceased by his parents and his brother Tom.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held on August 17, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Duncan Firehall, at 468 Duncan St. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cowichan Hospice House Project or a charity of your choice.
