It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father, Wycliffe Wellon on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Wycliffe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Bernice (Bun); daughters: Jordawn (John) Wambeke, Sorell Wellon (Sean); granddaughters: Paige Shadid, Liberty Joseph; grandsons: Frazer and Spencer; six great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and brothers: Oliver Wellon, Winston Wellon and Roosevelt Wellon. He was predeceased by Shirley Pike.
In 1938, Wycliffe was born in Westleyville, Newfoundland, to parents: Constable George and Melina Wellon. This islander proudly moved from coast to coast! Since he worked as a Technician, Wycliffe travelled across Canada beginning in Newfoundland, then Nova Scotia, Ontario and eventually moved to Duncan. He deeply appreciated his work because technology was always changing and he loved the challenges it presented at every turn. Wycliffe eventually retired from the Satellite Station Lake Cowichan in 1990. He and Bernice spent the winters in Texas and trips to visit grandchildren who will always cherish the memories of their papa's biggest hugs. Dad was never far away from a cryptogram book and was always ready to play a game of cards, chess, crib and anything else that could challenge his mind. Some of his joys included using his movie camera for Weddings, and Birthdays. He was always ready to create a movie for anyone whenever asked. He was also a member of the Duncan United Church Men's Club and the Duncan Lions Club and will be deeply missed by the many friends he made during his years with the Clubs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Duncan United Church, 246 Ingram Street, Duncan, B.C., V9L 1P4.
