It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beautiful, loving, caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many. Wynne passed away peacefully Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Cairnsmore Place in Duncan, BC. With her three daughters and eldest granddaughter by her side. She showed nothing but strength and grace after a very long term illness. She always tried her best and never complained even when she was in pain she kept pushing on. She is survived by her loving family daughters; Tracy, Kristine (Jas), and Kim (Erik), Grandchildren; Krystle (Luke), Amanda, Peter, Jessica, Adam, Nathan, Kaylen, Great-grandchildren; Peyton and Emmett, siblings Lance (Eleanor), Maureen (Bart), and many nieces and nephews.
Wynne was predeceased by her mother Winnifred and father Herbert and sister June and the widower of Reg Schafer who passed away in 2004. Wynne was born in Victoria, BC and raised in Vancouver, BC. After living in Langley for 35 years, Wynne moved to Duncan in 2012 to be closer to her daughters and family. She was so happy to have a new place to call home in Duncan. Wynne had a full life and a love for music, gardening, flowers, her kids and grandkids. She had a great no nonsense kind of humor and was the kind to say it like it is. She was a very loving, compassionate woman, wife and mother. Wynne always loved a good hug and had a kind and generous heart and tried to help her family and friends when she could.
Our Mom’s passing has left a void in our family’s hearts and we are grateful that she is now at peace. Wynne’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Harmony, CDH, and Cairinsmore Place. Special thanks to Dr. Cutt for her genuine kindness towards our mom’s care.
At Wynne’s request a private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers she asked that donations be made to the Cowichan Valley Hospice and Cairnsmore Place.
