British Columbia should have pet law like Ontario

The article reminded me that Ontario has a law that renders all “no pets” clauses in leases void.

Re: “Pet pooches make finding a home difficult” (April 8)

The article reminded me that Ontario has a law that renders all “no pets” clauses in leases void. This means landlords cannot evict a tenant that has pets unless the pets are causing damage or significant disturbances. They’ve had this law since at least 2006.

Surely Ms. Bowman can get together with her MLA, the SPCA, the Minister for Housing and Social Development, and others, and lobby the B.C. government to do the same?
