Education helped, not hindered by dress code

“Backwards thinking”? I was surprised by your editorial opinion of Chilliwack School District’s dress code. Having taught hundreds of teenagers, I see the described dress code as just common sense. It permits ample freedom of dress, while recognizing that the classroom is not a beach party. One of the aims of education is preparation for the work world, where short shorts and tank tops are generally not considered appropriate. The purposes of education are helped, not hindered, by a reasonable dress code.
