Health-care should have right to refuse vaccine
I am so disheartened to see my fellowman has lost their humanity, empathy, and reasoning.
I am stressed when I hear Bonnie Henry say the health-care workers who have decided to not take the vaccination should not have been in that profession.
The very people that have been on the front lines before and during this pandemic, who have faced ridicule and judgement by the mainstream media and the very people that need them the most.
These people have been there for us when we are at our most vulnerable state. They never judged us when we arrive with broken bones from doing something stupid, or having a heart attack, after many years of smoking, or alcohol related sicknesses. They were the people that held the hands of sick and dying patience when relatives couldn’t attend.
I for one thank all the front-line workers that sacrificed their lives and time with their families to care for the sick. I don’t care if you are vaccinated or not. It is your right to decide what is best for you and it’s none of my business.
It was OK to be working with the very ill before the vaccine, so what has changed? To say the unvaccinated are being selfish is ridiculous. They have not taken this decision lightly. They have lost their jobs, friendships and even families have been torn apart. It’s their bodies and their choice.
The UN states “Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work…”
We are entering the Christmas season and wish all people to reflect what is truly the meaning of humanity. I wish both vaccinated and unvaccinated the best in 2022 and hope this hysteria subsides soon.
