Thanks to everyone in making plastic collection a success
A public letter of thanks to the chairperson of the CVRD and to the editor of the Citizen newspaper, and to the public at large.
Thank you for supporting our cause to raise money for the Clements Society, and for bursaries for 2022 graduating high school students, who will take college courses in agricultural or horticultural studies.
The CVRD has actively assisted us in the collection of “non-deposit” discarded plastic food containers at Bings Creek. These we convert into plant pots in which we can grow flowering plants (plus edible peas) to raise funds for the above two charitable causes. We aim to raise $1,500.
We erected a sign board over a collection bin at Bings Creek yesterday afternoon, April 29. This afternoon we harvested 42 suitably sized PVC containers in which to grow plants for sale to help those two charities. Thank you, everyone who saw and responded to our sign.
We are currently growing and offering:
1. Tall, mauve and pink hardy perennial phlox. Grow to about 36 inches high. Extremely pretty.
2. Bright red Monarda aka Bergamot or Bee Balm (beloved by hummingbirds and bees). Ht. 36 inches, and spectacular.
3. Goldsturm Rudbeckia (hardy perennial, bright yellow daisy-like flowers) grows about 18 inches high. Great colour.
4. Bill Herring, heritage 10 per pod, green pea seeds, 30 seeds per packet. Delicious to eat and easy to grow.
5. We also have a few containers with 15 growing Bill Herring peas ready for planting out now. Delicious and convenient!
All of the above are offered at $5. Please note, first come, first served!
Delivery can be arranged in special circumstances e.g. impairment or orders over $60 .
