Thanks to Sawrie for defending poverty grant application
Mayor and council,
Thank you Councillor Sawrie for defending the application for grant funding for the reduction of poverty.
Coun. Sawrie, you have a good understanding of how important this grant would be for developing the plan of action of which further support could be sought in future for reducing poverty.
The vote on this issue should have been unanimous. However, and in my opinion, Coun. Manhas has a very limited understanding of what the community needs and should consider educating himself on the issues vs. suggesting that the community has too many organizations, inferring that these organizations have no positive purpose for seeking solutions to complex issues.
In my opinion Coun. Manhas is unrealistic in his views and his comments on this subject are pessimistic, without empathy for the less fortunate.
