Masking can spread fear

One shouldn’t underestimate the negative consequences of fear

Masking can spread fear

Most people see there is a need for a rational approach to attempting to control the spread of the virus.

Most rational people also understand that there are serious questions around the mitigations taken and their effectiveness. However, to suggest that these mitigations, including the wearing of a mask, has no impact on the human psyche is totally wrong.

Fear continues to spread throughout our communities and the very real impact is obvious if you are paying attention. Wearing a mask in the general public when not absolutely necessary is likely to reinforce fear in the wearer and spread fear in those that are trying to “remain calm and carry on”. One shouldn’t underestimate the negative consequences of fear including that of irrational thinking.
