No raise for CVRD directors
What a contrast between the CVRD suggesting a 30 per cent raise for themselves, compared to New Zealand’s prime minister, the leader of the opposition, the cabinet and all senior public servants that took a 20 per cent pay cut for six months to show solidarity with people struggling without work.
May I ask, where is the “solidarity” with the CVRD, as a 30 per cent raise is outrageous at any stage of the game, let alone during a pandemic, considering the fact some people tragically need food on the table?
I suggest that those directors, who were in favour of a proposed fat raise, reconsider and set a good example and follow New Zealand role, instead of wanting to fill their pockets at the cost to the taxpayers of this area. If they don’t, we should consider their action, or non-action, at election time. Greed has no place at the council table.
And a big thank you to Cobble Hill and Mill Bay directors who spoke out against the raise. Please keep setting a good example at the council table.
