Tired of increasing gas prices
My name is Tousilum, I live in this Cowichan Valley the home of my ancestors, my grandparents and my parents.
I am a proud member of the Cowichan Tribes.
I worked, paid taxes, walk the very town called Duncan.
I shop in the very stores many of us journey to on a daily basis.
I shop in the stores that provide the meals for myself and family.
We live in a very colourful place we call home, the rain showers Mother Earth, the very colourful changing of the leaves.
The powerful mountains that surround us, the powerful rivers that echo through our valley.
The one sight I do not like to see, whether it be sunny, cloudy, night or day, is the increase of the price of gasoline that many of us rely on.
Do we not tire of the excuses of why it is increased? I know by not saying anything I’m agreeing with what they are doing to us.
What do we do, do we stand by and be silent or do we channel our dismayed feelings to the direction of those who are responsible for this atrocity of gasoline price gouging?
I will still carry on in enjoying the beauty of this land called the Cowichan Valley.
I will drive these same roads and highways, I will drive my grandchildren to their concerts and drive them to the store for a snack.
Life carries on in the best way we can.
Huy ch q’u for your attention on hearing this little human being’s thoughts — all the best to each of you and family.
