Voting for Horgan who eliminated MSP premiums

Not having medical coverage included as a benefit of being a B.C. citizen was a hole in our medical system, and I thank John Horgan and the government of the last three years for filling that gap.

Since January MSP payments are covered. During my many years as clinical pharmacy specialist for the mothers and high risk babies at Victoria General, I witnessed some instances of women not getting the care they needed in a timely manner because they thought they had no medical coverage. One case in particular was really upsetting — an older mom, socially disadvantaged, and who had recently moved from another province. She didn’t get health care until late in pregnancy and then her blood sugar was found to be sky high. The baby died.

I contacted MSP to push for coverage being included in our taxes and they said that it was too expensive — in the meantime that government was paying for our personal billing data to be stored in the U.S., and that billing service had to follow up on all the late payments — a costly proposition. That’s changed now, and is why I’m voting for Horgan.
