Cowichan’s soccer teams begin season this weekend

Women’s teams, men’s masters and Div. 4 all in action

The adult soccer season begins this weekend with games for five of Cowichan’s senior teams.

The Cowichan Outlaws will take the field first as they kick off the Lower Island Women’s Soccer Association Div. 2 season against Castaways FC at the Sherman Road turf this Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Three men’s teams will be in action at the turf on Saturday, beginning with Div. 4 Cowichan Red Arrow hosting Prospect Lake at 4 p.m. The Masters Red Cowichan 49ers will take on SFFC Internationals at 6 p.m., and the Masters Blue Cowichan Steelheads face SFFC Forest at 8 p.m.

The Cowichan Cougars will open the LIWSA Over 30 women’s season on Sunday when they host Gorge at 10 a.m. at Evans Park.

Cowichan’s other two adult teams will start their seasons the following weekend. Div. 1 Cowichan FC hosts Fernwood Town at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, and U21 Cowichan United hosts Castways at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16.
